D-League draft - Live Updates![]() Should be getting started in a few minutes. Picks are three minutes apart in the first round. I think there's less time after that (90 seconds). Wizards pick 11th in first round. Former Wizard Carlos Powell goes first overall to Albuquerque. Powell was a third-team all-star for Dakota in 2007-08. In the first four picks, no bigs taken, which is the area the Wizards are targeting. Garret Siler goes fifth to Utah. Big center who was with the Timberwolves in the Summer League. That was a player the Wizards thought they could get it. "That's how it rolls," Wizards coach Rory White said. Division rival Iowa is on the clock. D-League site is five picks behind already. Wizards figured the Energy didn't need to go big, and didn't. Fort Wayne on the clock and may have made a trade. Dakota's other hope for a center, Alade Aminu got picked by the Mad Ants, who will apparently trade them. The Wizards grab Curtis Withers, a 6-8 power forward from Charlotte. The Skyforce grabs Raymond Sykes, another player the Wizards liked. Some info on Withers. he's 25, last played at Charlotte in 2005-06, averaging 16.1 ppg. Has played extensively overseas, last season in Israel. The new Springfield team takes former Iowa Energy guard JamesOn Curry. Two more picks in the first round. Wizards are up sixth in the second. Tulsa takes Latavious Williams with the last pick of the first round. He's the first high school player to go straight to the D-League. With their second-round pick, the Wizards take Doug Thomas, a 6-9 power forward from Iowa. The Wizards grabbed Marcus Dove, a 6-9 power forward in the third round. The Wizards go big in the fourth, taking D'Lancy Carter, a center from St. Bonaventure. Dakota picked up a point guard in the fifth, grabbing Jason Straight of Iowa. Former Wizard Perrin Johnson just went to Springfield in the sixth round. Sixth round Dakota grabs Darren Cooper, a 6-3 shooting guard from Portland, a former L.A. D-Fender. Austin just grabbed former Wizard Quemont Greer late in the sixth. Gonna go dark here for a few minutes, have to call Withers. I'll update the last 20-some picks soon. Sorry about that. I've got better setup using my personal MacBook in a sports bar to the first 100-some picks than I do at the Tribune. Thanks to our IT guy, Stace, for getting me back online at the office.
